MM has obtained certification of its Management Systems, as evidence of its commitment to ensuring and improving processes related to activities, in order to achieve results that adequately meet the needs, expectations and requirements of all interested parties (e.g. customer orientation, environmental protection, pollution prevention, rational use of energy, etc.).

Since 1996, MM has had a Quality Management System in place as an organisational lever to increase the flexibility of the structure with respect to the demands of the external environment, making its competencies available to the community and developing strategies in line with stakeholder interests.
Today, the UNI EN ISO 9001 Quality Certification covers all of MM's main business sectors, namely the Engineering Division, the Water Service Division and the Housing Division.
Within the Quality Management System adopted, MM has identified the basic principles through which to define, maintain, communicate and review the Quality Policy, identifying suitable tools to verify its understanding at every level of the organizational structure, in order to integrate the activities carried out with corporate strategies and to provide quality products and services, ensuring maximum customer satisfaction in compliance with the explicit and implicit expectations and needs of the same.
Respect for the environment is a priority aspect in the management of MM's activities, which operates in a context where it is necessary to proceed with extreme caution towards the different environmental components that could be involved during the design and construction of public works, in the management of the water cycle and in the management of the Public Residential Building heritage of the Municipality of Milan.
As evidence of its commitment, MM has obtained and maintains an active Environmental Management System certified according to the UNI EN ISO 14001 standard for Engineering and Water Service, and has identified the basic principle on which the "Environmental Policy" is based, namely the commitment to ensuring the protection of the environment and compliance with environmental legislation, monitoring the actions of all the "actors" involved and contributing to the growth of awareness of environmental responsibility.
The continuous attention to environmental issues is present in the design of works, for which MM is committed to promoting applied research and continuous training of design technicians so that each new project represents progress in the environmental field.
In its design activity, MM operates with extreme attention towards the different environmental components that could be involved during the construction of the works (air quality, water supply and wastewater, soil and subsoil management, waste and land management, noise and vibrations, etc.).
Since the construction activities, and consequently the construction site, are contracted out to external companies, MM is nevertheless indirectly responsible for the environmental impacts resulting from the construction site activities. During the construction of the works, and in particular when the Works Management activities are carried out by MM itself, the Company is committed to ensuring, in addition to the protection of the environment, also compliance with environmental legislation. Therefore, the Project Manager are personally committed to monitoring the actions of the contractors and other actors present on the construction site, contributing to the growth of their awareness of environmental responsibility.
In 2010, MM obtained, among the first water management companies in Italy within the time limits established by the Convention and the Service Regulations of the Optimal Territorial Area Authority, certification of its Environmental Management System according to the UNI EN ISO 14001 standard, which recognizes its commitment to environmental protection and pollution prevention. The Water Service promotes the sustainable use of water resources, implementing conscious management of the same, constant monitoring of network losses and promoting the reuse of wastewater in agriculture. It also pursues energy efficiency activities through the research and implementation of solutions that minimize energy consumption resulting from plant activities and maximize their efficiency. MM intervenes in hydraulic defense of the territory in case of overflow of surface watercourses and manages the tombinature (underground sections of natural and artificial watercourses) on behalf of the Municipality of Milan. Finally, through ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, it guarantees the full functionality of the water and sewer network and avoids the risk of sewage dispersion in the subsoil, safeguarding the aquifer.
Since 2011, MM has established and maintains an active Energy Management System for the Water Service according to the UNI CEI EN ISO 50001 standard, in line with environmental and energy objectives and targets, up to the best European standards, giving evidence of its commitment to energy saving and respect for the environment.
The Energy Management System (SGE) defined by the UNI EN ISO 50001:2011 standard is based on the definition of a policy for energy management.
The application of the energy management system is based on energy diagnoses in which consumption is analyzed in detail, identifying areas for possible improvement through specific cost/benefit evaluations and planning of useful interventions.
MM proceeds to implement in concrete planning, implementation, monitoring and verification actions the guiding principle of continuous improvement, integrating its declinations and impacts into the company's energy policy.
Our company policy provides for constant updating of safety measures to be adopted during any work activity and continuous training for all personnel, so that each individual is aware of the risks and necessary precautions to operate in maximum safety. We believe that a safe working environment not only protects the health of our employees, but also promotes greater productivity and better quality of work.
Since 2022, MM Spa has confirmed its commitment by certifying its Health and Safety Management Systems according to UNI ISO 45001:2018 for the activities of the Water Service of the city of Milan and for its Engineering Division.
