MM was founded in 1955 with the intention of designing the subway lines for the city of Milan. As the Company has gained more and more expertise in the field of engineering, it has been entrusted with many areas of work over the years, including roads, water, construction, schools, and green areas.

MM was established as an engineering company wholly owned by the Municipality of Milan to build the city's subway network.
MM inaugurates the M1 red subway line for which it oversaw the design and construction phase of the line, was the contracting station, and oversaw construction management and testing.
The company opens the M2 green subway line for which it oversaw the design and construction phase of the line, was the contracting station, and oversaw Construction Management and testing.
The company inaugurates the M3 yellow subway line. MM oversaw the design and construction phase of the line, was the contracting station, and oversaw Construction Management and testing.
MM builds and inaugurates the first section of the Suburban Line. MM designed and built the urban section, about 10 km long, with 6 underground and 1 aboveground stations.
Since 2003, the Municipality of Milan has entrusted MM with the management of the city's Integrated Water Service: from groundwater withdrawal to potabilization and quality control to the return of the water resource to the environment and agriculture.
MM inaugurates the M5 lilac subway line. He oversaw the feasibility study and preliminary design of the entire line, as well as the final design of the Garibaldi-San Siro segment. In addition, it has performed a high oversight function on the execution of works carried out by Metro 5.
Since 2014, MM has been in charge of the management and modernization of Public Residential Housing by taking care of administrative, accounting and technical-legal activities, user relations, ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, asset protection and preparatory activities for housing allocation.
The company accompanies the development phases of EXPO 2015 from the design of the main urbanization works, construction management and Safety Coordination during the execution of the interventions, to the dismantling.
In 2018, the company opened the Centrale dell'Acqua in Milan, the company's Enterprise Museum, a space open to the public dedicated to water issues.
MM began to follow some of the Municipality of Milan's asset management and maintenance activities directly in the field, including school building assets and lifting facilities serving road underpasses.
Among the activities in the field, MM takes charge of the routine maintenance of sports facilities owned by the Municipality of Milan and entrusted to Milanosport for management.
MM takes over the management of municipal school building assets for 25 years.
MM is entrusted with the direct care and maintenance of the green areas pertaining to the Municipality of Milan's ERP assets.
MM assumes the management of the Public Residential Housing (ERP) assets owned by the Municipality of Bergamo by carrying out administrative management of the assets and property maintenance.
In November, MM inaugurated the first section of the M4 blue subway line. MM was responsible for Construction Management, Preliminary and Final Design, Safety Coordination during the Execution Phase, and communication/information activities to the public about the progress of the work.
In August MM won the international tender for the Tev Aviv Metro Line 1 project.
As of November 2023, the Seveso Reservoir Lining is active. On Saturday, June 1, the green area surrounding the Seveso Laminating Pond, a 12,000-square-meter tree-lined park with bike path inserted into the Parco Nord, opens.
